Allithwaite C E School has been involved with the Michelle Jurd Trust for at least 6 years and have benefitted significantly through the funds donated by the Trust.
Allithwaite children have benefitted from many adventure and outdoor activities as well as cultural and arts activities. None of which would have been possible through the school budget. These activities promote Friendship, Loyalty, Trust, Self-esteem, Courage and Self-reliance, in a way that just can’t be taught in the same way in a normal day-to-day school setting. These activities are invaluable in helping to develop our young people – our leaders of tomorrow!
Activities Funded include:
Horse riding for 2 SEN pupils which encourages language, self-esteem and the learning of new skills.
Y3 & Y4 Pupils took part in canoeing and kayaking
Y3 & Y4 Learned to play a musical instrument (something we often take for granted)
Ghyll scrambling; Caving and Gorge exploration
Working with an artist, Hannah Fox, to create artistic representations of our school values – friendship, courage, hope, creativity, responsibility and wisdom – which they also transferred onto fabric.
On behalf of the school, we hope you can appreciate the difference every £1 makes to the lives of these children, showing them that there is a world of possibilities and adventures to experience.
