4 Young people get the chance to watch the GB Cyclists in training and even get the chance to show off some of their own bike skills.
Thanks to funding from the Michelle Jurd Trust across the Summer of 2019 Carlisle Youth Zone was able to offer some spectacular once in a lifetime opportunities to disadvantaged young people from the local area. These young people would have only dreamed of attending some of the events and places they did this summer, and yet as a result of this funding they could. These were young people who were normally left out, put off by the cost, and yet this summer they were able to attend and have the most amazing time.
Adventure number six took a group of four young people to the National Cycling Centre at Manchester to spend an hour on the GB BMX Track before heading into the Velodrome to watch a number of GB cyclists training. In between the two sessions, the young people managed to get lunch at McDonalds before taking the short walk over to the Etihad Stadium to get a picture outside. This trip was amazing and the young people in attendance loved every minute, with a couple demonstrating real skills on the bikes.
