The Lakeland Festival Of Light 2024

Saturday 17th August 2024, hosted by Lakeland Mountain Guides

The Lakeland Festival of Light 2024

Event name: The Lakeland Festival of Light

Run by: Lakeland Mountain Guides

Event organiser: Matt le Voi

The Lakeland Festival of Light 2024 will be on Saturday 17th August 2024, supporting the Michelle Jurd Trust

Since 2015, our Lakeland Festival of Light series has raised over £77,500 for various charities. The event is completely non-profit and we raise money through generous donations.  Last year over £10,000 was raised for the Michelle Jurd Trust and has been donated to youth groups and veteran events to improve opportunity and quality of lives.  A group of disadvantaged young people from Barrow went to Southampton and sailed for a week on the tall ships, building confidence and team working skills.  They had the trip of a life time.  Over 100 veterans enjoyed an afternoon tea in September to combat loneliness and support their social needs.

You do not need a ticket to attend the event, but a donation from everyone attending is expected. Donations can be made in cash on the night, or via the weblink (to be posted)

So what happens on the night?

We will meet at the Rawnsley Centre Car Park (CA12 5NP) in Keswick at 5:30pm, and after an event briefing and a raffle we’ll walk to Catbells. This is a distance of 2.5 miles on good trails.

Quite simply, we then line Catbells from the top to the bottom (so you go as far as you wish) and we get some pictures captured by our amazing pro photographer team. The evening can often be a cold one, so come prepared with more clothes than you think. We do have to wait for it to get dark to get an amazing picture, and standing around is chilly, so I’ll say it again – be prepared for this! Also don’t forget your head torch.

Once the pictures are snapped we descend safely and you walk back to Keswick, with the event wrapping up by about 10pm.

Unfortunately the event is not suitable for mobility scooters etc, but Crow Park in Keswick offers a superb vantage point.

Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept under control and dog waste is removed from the mountain.

We are on the hunt for raffle prizes to aid the donations. Should you have anything you could donate please get in touch!
