The Lakeland Festival Of Light 2023

Saturday 1st April 2023, hosted by Lakeland Mountain Guides

The Lakeland Festival of Light 2023

The Lakeland Festival of Light 2023, hosted by Lakeland Mountain Guides will be held on Saturday 1st April 2023.  The event will take place as a line of people and torchlight marking the route from Keswick up to Catbells summit. It will be a spectacular experience and we are hoping many people come to join in on the night.

This year Lakeland Mountain Guides have kindly chosen to support the Michelle Jurd Trust, with their fundraising event.  This will make such an amazing contribution to the funds that are available to benefit young peoples adventure activities across Cumbria and also our ongoing Veteran support.

Suggested donation per person is a £20 contribution to take part but even if you are not able to join in, you will be able to make a donation and/or purchase the stunning photograph taken from the event.

You do not need a ticket to attend the event, you can just turn up. It would be great though if you could register your intention to attend and make an online donation before hand but there will also be the opportunity to donate on the night.

So what happens on the night?

We will be meeting at the Rawnsley Centre Car Park (CA12 5NP) in Keswick at 5:30pm, and after an event briefing and a raffle we’ll walk to Catbells. This is a distance of 2.5 miles on good trails. The Drowsey Goose will once again be there serving coffee at the start.

Quite simply, we will then line Catbells from the top to the bottom (so you go as far as you are able) and we get some pictures captured by an amazing pro photographer team. The evening can often be a cold one, so come prepared with more clothes than you think. We do have to wait for it to get dark to get an amazing picture, and standing around is chilly, so I’ll say it again – be prepared for this! Also don’t forget your head torch.  Once the pictures are snapped we descend safely and you walk back to Keswick, with the event wrapping up by about 10pm. The photographs will be available to purchase after the event so link into the Facebook pages for more info on this
